What is Shamanism?
shamanism is one of the oldest traditions in our human heritage. in early times, when our ancestors were unsure of what medicine plants to use, where to hunt, how to help a sick or injured clanmate heal, or how to work in harmony with the life-giving spirits of nature, a shaman would enter a trance state, and travel in non-ordinary reality to bring back information and healing for the tribe.

today, shamanism is undergoing a renaissance, and is being practiced all over the planet, helping us stay balanced, empowered and joyful in our modern world. everyone can learn to journey - I encourage you to come to a shaman circle, or experience shamanic work for yourself. read a shamanic intro here.

this is some of my favorite work! divination topics can include questions like 'what do I need to do to shift/transform/heal x thing in my life' or 'what is the outcome of x decision,' and healing requests can be wide open, or specific. once I have your inquiry, I'll journey to your compassionate helping spirits and ask for assistance, and email you a detailed description of the work, with instructions on how to follow up with and honor the medicine you receive. opening these shamanic emails are not unlike opening a christmas present. (hee!) magic!

each animal spirit has a specific medicine, or teaching, and I'll journey to anchor an alliance between you and the animal who is choosing to work with you at this time. all animal medicines are equal, and incredibly powerful, whether it be polar bear or brown mouse. I'll email you a detailed description of your power animal journey, with information about what this ally wants to help you with, and suggestions about how to honor and integrate this work in your daily life. having the help of compassionate helping spirits is incredibly potent, supportive, comforting.

when we experience trauma, parts of our vital essence can sometimes split off to help us survive the experience. this leaves us with 'soul loss,' often expressed as depression, compromised immunity, or feelings of sadness or 'something missing.' in your ceremony, I'll build a healing altar for you, and journey to bring home missing soul pieces. this healing can take some time to integrate, and often includes fun personal work from your allies. I encourage folks to set aside meditative time during distant ceremony - welcome home!

The Shaman Circle
monthly community circle to explore and practice shamanic journeying, beginners welcome. $20


based in core shamanism, the shaman circle offers a safe, joyful space to explore shamanic journeying and practice. we'll call in sacred space together, enjoy introductions, provide a brief overview on how to journey for beginners, and move through two shamanic journeys with live drumming, entering non-ordinary reality and exploring different shamanic worlds. everyone can learn to journey, and gain information about our life paths, insight into our struggles, help solve problems, and offer healing for all of creation. come play!
