WHAT IS THE REIKI RETREAT?

this is the second year of the reiki retreat - hoorah! our vision is to create a vessel where reiki practitioners of all lineages can come together, and enjoy a day of three group workshops that explore contemporary, traditional and interdisciplinary reiki techniques, morning tea service, locally grown organic lunch, large group reiki share, and sacred ritual. this is a warm, safe space to explore our reiki questions, and spend a day connecting with reiki community. we'll laugh, play, eat, learn and grow...you're invited!
     
 

WHEN, WHERE & HOW MUCH

the reiki retreat occurs saturday, november 29. we'll meet at the astounding green gulch zen center in marin, welcoming the day by the fireside in the healing yurt, enjoying a full day of workshops together, move into the zen center for a mindful lunch with the brothers and sisters of green gulch, and end in a glorious gaggle of reiki sharing. attendance is $195, and includes the nine-hour retreat, three reiki workshops, morning tea ceremony and organic lunch, reiki books for sale, access to healing tables, and all the reiki we can welcome.

     
 
WORKSHOP: REIKI & SHAMANIC INITIATION
connecting with reiki guides and reiki power animals, led by greg harper

as with reiki, a shamanic healer is the conduit, or “hollow bone”, through which spirit works. most shamanic healing is done while in an altered state, or trance, usually induced by drumming. while in trance, we journey to non-ordinary reality to connect with helping spirits, which may be in animal, human, or other form. in this workshop, you will be initiated into shamanic journeying and connect directly with one or more of your reiki guides or power animals, to enhance your practice. we will partner up, and journey shamanically while receiving reiki.
     
 
GREG HARPER, reiki master
the inner voyage

greg harper is a shamanic practitioner, reiki master-teacher, certified clinical hypnotherapist, and EFT practitioner. he has advanced training in shamanism from the foundation for shamanic studies and the four winds society. greg teaches shamanism and leads a monthly drum circle at HCH institute in lafayette. greg holds a PhD from the university of california at berkeley, and was a geology professor for many years with 60+ research publications. visit him online here.
     
 
WORKSHOP: PARTNERING WITH HEART INTELLIGENCE & REIKI
heart centering and guidance through the path with heart, led by malia okin

while many of us rely heavily upon the intellect for guidance and assistance with the choices and challenges of our life paths, heart intelligence is often a more fitting resource for our current personal and collective issues. the heart, far more expansive than our conscious minds, sees a holistic perspective and inspires new ways of beingness and doingness. we will explore unconventional ways of partnering with the heart, using reiki and the innate magic of play to guide personal and planetary healing.

in early 2004, malia experienced a fortunate meeting with reiki, which quickly blossomed into a beautiful partnership...and they have been joyfully adventuring together since! malia integrates elements from many different metaphysical and spiritual teachings into her work/play and honors them all as differently packaged ways of communing with the same collective creative consciousness. malia is a certified master teacher in the usui/tibetan system of reiki, karuna reiki, lightarian reiki, lightarian rays, and lightarian angellinks. visit her online here.
     
 

WORKSHOP: REIKI & RAPPORT WITH CRYSTALS
tapping into the healing power of stones, led by kim english

working with reiki and awakening awareness of crystals can go easily hand in hand. this workshop will teach you how to connect with crystals, gain information through them, and learn how to work in partnership together while respecting healthy boundaries. we'll work with asking crystals to hold reiki, and program them for self-cleaning. everyone will leave the retreat with a crystal they worked with for the day, and have a new set of tools to enhance our reiki practice.

kim english has a masters in intuitive diagnostics and a PhD from the ritberger institute for esoteric studies. she is licensed through the institute in personality psychology and typology. she holds a variety of certifications in vibrational and healing modalities including sound, reiki, karuna reiki and lightarian reiki. kim is a returning teacher from the first reiki retreat, and runs her healing practice, dancing spirit, from the beautiful countryside of northern california. visit her online here
     
 
GROUP CREATION: THE GIFT ALTAR

we're all invited to bring one of our truly sacred items, one that we're ready to release lovingly and with all of our hearts. this is a powerful practice that can help us enter the flow of giving, receiving, releasing and welcoming. magically, an item seems to always appear that feels perfectly designed for every person present. we'll learn about where our power objects come from, and give them new homes, a tangible and sacred reminder of our day together.
     
 
SHU CHU REIKI
reiki share

no reiki gathering would be complete without...lots of reiki! (laughter) we'll each spend time on the table, basking in the luxury and delight of many reiki hands on the body at once. we'll have several reiki tables going, and will alternately experiment with working as a group in silence, with spontaneous sharing, and also with sound healing. time seems to suspend itself during these intense mini-sessions - a great way to revitalize ourselves and honor the playful & sacred nature of reiki.
     
 
THE INTELLIGENT CUPCAKE

food is love, reiki is love…and erika plays with both. beyond being a juicy reikiperson, erika is a phenomenal baking artisan as well. her incredible edibles - lip-smacking, finger-licking, I-can't-believe-these-are-vegan cupcakes - are back by (very!) popular demand this year. (we had to post it, as so many of you've been asking). last year, erika bore her edible delights on muni at midnight in rain and fog to get them fresh to us on time - wow! all of her ingredients are organic, intelligently researched, and flavored lovingly with reiki.
     
 

OTTERS, ANYONE?
honoring the otter within

the birth of the retreat was synonymous with my strong medicine dreams of river otters. long story short, otters appeared everywhere, in bookshops, riding atop yellow cabs, and at green gulch, to place the retreat - I've journeyed with otter ever since. this year, vibrant reiki adopted an otter in scotland, and is committed to donating five percent of all profits to IOSF, to support the caretaking of and education about otters. in native teachings, otter embodies playfulness, and is a model of nourishing and caring for each other - exactly the spirit of the retreat.
